Climate bill is economic suicideAn open letter to Congressman Collin Peterson, D-Minn.:
I am deeply disappointed by your support of the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009. Your complicity has helped to set America on a course to financial ruin.
To call the legislation reckless would be an understatement. It is doubtful that you or any member of Congress even read the 1,200-page document in its entirety. And to accept the 300-page amendment, delivered in the wee hours on the eve of passage, defies all logic.
This unprecedented power grab, which grants the federal government control over countless sectors of industry, housing, transportation and personal lifestyle, shreds the principles of liberty on which our nation was founded – and were codified in the Constitution. The bill’s underlying rationale – the “science” of climate change – is anything but settled. Instead, a growing body of evidence unmasks Al Gore and his minions as charlatans bent on making huge fortunes via “green” legislation.
It appears that the sun, not mankind, is the reason for temperature change. And for your information, during the last decade Earth’s temperature has not warmed.
The mountain of complex regulations (with its resulting financial burden) unleashed on our nation will not revitalize our economy, but will strangle it.
You cannot increase regulation and improve the economy. In all, this bill shows an appalling disregard for the U.S. Constitution, for science, for economics and for common sense.
I hope you will change your stance, then strive to stop this economic suicide pact from being passed by the Senate. Your constituents deserve no less.
