Fundraiser aims to help veterans see new submarine

The USS North Dakota will go into commission in 2012. The U.S. Navy submarine is the first ship named after the state since World War I.

Duane Sand, commander of the Submarine Veterans of North Dakota, presented David Zier with a USS North Dakota baseball cap Wednesday.

The Submarine Veterans of North Dakota are selling the caps to raise money to help send veterans to see the commissioning of the submarine.

The caps are $30 and can be purchased by calling (888) 350-7846. For more information, write to Duane Sand at 1720 Burnt Boat Road, Bismarck, ND 58503.
