With a surplus, no more taxesIt’s great that North Dakota is one of the few states with a surplus. A surplus suggests that the state has handled its finances well, the economy is good here, we’ve been overtaxed, or a combination of these. In any case, what better use for a surplus than to provide permanent flood protection for a large number of North Dakota residents?
None of the problems we face in this economy can be solved by moving more money from private citizens to public agencies. We should reject any such proposals, including a local sales tax.
