Clay County schedules wind ordinance hearingThe Clay County Commission has set a public hearing for 11 a.m. July 14 on a proposed wind energy ordinance that was recently approved by the Clay County Planning Commission.
The ordinance establishes noise limits and set-backs dictating how close generator towers may be to neighboring properties.
The ordinance would be used by the county when it considers permits for projects with a power generating capacity of less than 5 megawatts.
If the rules are passed, the state would have to consider them when reviewing permits for wind projects that fall under state oversight.
