Two robberies believed to be relatedMoorhead and West Fargo police believe two armed robberies reported within an hour of each other Monday night are related, based on matching suspect descriptions and a similar style of robbery.
The incidents were reported at 9:39 p.m. at Domino’s Pizza at 1380 9th St. E. in West Fargo and at 10:36 p.m. at Mellow Moods Pipe and Tobacco at 1825 Main Ave. in Moorhead.
In both cases, a man reportedly entered the store with a gun and demanded money.
The suspect in the West Fargo incident was described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, 180 pounds, late teens to mid-20s, wearing aviator-style sunglasses, a blue bandana over his face and a dark hooded sweatshirt.
West Fargo and Cass County authorities with a K-9 unit tried to apprehend the suspect, but it’s believed that he left by vehicle shortly after running from Domino’s, police said.
No money was taken in the West Fargo incident, Sgt. Duane Sall said.
Police said the suspect in the Moorhead case is believed to have fled the business in a vehicle. An undisclosed amount of money was taken from the store, Lt. Joel Scharf said.
The description of the suspect was similar to the West Fargo incident, with the addition of a dark beard and red-colored pants. Moorhead police also received a description of the suspect’s vehicle, believed to be a 1990s white or silver passenger car with possible front quarter panel damage.
“There were other people in the area who had seen the person come and go,” Scharf said.
No one was injured in the incidents, which remain under investigation.
Some people in the area of the Moorhead incident heard the sound of a possible gunshot, but it wasn’t confirmed that a shot was fired, Deputy Chief Shannon Monroe said.
