Mantle’s son to attend ‘61*’ movie showingBoth Ms will be represented next Saturday when actor Billy Crystal and sportscaster Bob Costas host a showing and a question and answer session of the movie “61*.” David Mantle, the son of the late Mickey Mantle, confirmed Friday that he will be part of the production at the Fargo Theater.
The event is part of the Roger Maris Celebrity Golf Tournament weekend. Tournament chairman Roger Fenstad also confirmed that Jennifer Foley Crystal, the daughter of Billy who played Pat Maris in the movie, will also take part in the movie Q&A.
“We’ve had a lot of things happen in this tournament over the years with people saying they’re coming and they can’t make it because of schedules and what-not,” Fenstad said. “We’re excited when things fall into place and it does happen. I think it’s nice for the community to have this.
Tickets for the “61*” event, which starts at 6 p.m., are still available at the Fargo Theater box office. What started as an evening with Crystal and Costas has mushroomed to include “61*” actors Paul Borghese (Yogi Berra), Barry Pepper (Roger Maris) and producer Ross Greenburg. Fenstad said he’s hoping for confirmation from additional movie personnel.
It’s possible Dan Mantle, Mickey’s other son, may also come, “although we haven’t gotten that verified for sure,” Fenstad said.
The movie, directed by Billy Crystal, chronicles the pursuit of Babe Ruth’s single-season home run record by Maris and Mantle – the M&M boys.
The tournament confirmed that Ultimate Fighting superstar and former wrestling champion Brock Lesnar will participate in the golf tournament.
