Minnesota teen named 2 millionth Eagle Scout

MINNEAPOLIS - A big honor for a Minnesota Boy Scout.

Sixteen-year-old Anthony Thomas of Lakeville has been named the 2 millionth Eagle Scout since the first Eagle badge was awarded in 1912.

The Boy Scouts of America and the Northern Star Council are scheduled to make the announcement Wednesday.

As the 2 millionth Eagle Scout, Anthony will serve as a youth ambassador for scouting at national events such as the Tournament of Roses Parade.

His first role will be to help break ground on a multimillion-dollar project to transform historic Fort Snelling into ``Base Camp' - an urban Scouting camp featuring rope courses, rock-climbing walls and an environmental learning center.
