Officials say Schulz died of head injuries

The North Dakota state medical examiner says head injuries caused the death of a veteran race car driver in a speedway collision last month.

The medical examiner’s report on the death of John Schulz was released to the Cass County Sheriff’s Department. It lists the cause of death as blunt head trauma due to the collision.

The 47-year-old Schulz died in a May 30 crash during the Modifieds feature race at the Red River Valley Speedway. Officials said it was the first death at the West Fargo track since 1992.
