Driver in fatal Champlin hit-run faces charges

CHAMPLIN, Minn. - The driver of a car that struck and killed a Champlin woman in a crosswalk Sunday is expected to face criminal charges this week. Forty-four-year-old Heather Lyn Solberg was crossing the street with a group of people after leaving a restaurant-bar about 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Witnesses told police a white Pontiac Grand Am ran a red light, hit the woman, then took off.

The driver was arrested about 20 minutes later.

Police Chief Dave Schwarze says a 23-year-old female passenger who allegedly drove the car after Solberg was hit also faces charges.
