Spirit Lake Casino plans expansionST. MICHAEL, N.D. - Spirit Lake Casino plans to add two new ballrooms as part of a 22,700 square foot addition and renovation.
Ground breaking is set for noon Monday for a $3 million project that will take about seven months to complete, according to General Manager Paul Matheny.
The addition will include about 15,000 square feet of new construction and 7,700 square feet of remodeled area in the existing facility.
The new ballrooms, which will seat about 200 people each, will accommodate weddings, conferences and special events. A moveable partition can be opened to join the two into one large ballroom.
The Soaring Eagle gift shop will relocate to the new addition, along with an updated hotel lobby, front desk and salon that will offer hair styling, nails and tanning.
A second floor conference room will be located just above the new hotel front desk.
Construction Engineers of Grand Forks and DSGW Architects of Duluth will handle the expansion.
The Spirit Lake Casino and Resort is owned and operated by the Spirit Lake Nation.
The Grand Forks (N.D.) Herald and The Forum are both owned by Forum Communications Co.
