New school map is unacceptableI need to make sure that the residents around Eastwood Elementary in West Fargo are aware that this area has been designated as an area that would attend the new middle school and high school. I would be for the new schools, however, I live near Eastwood Elementary, and I am only six blocks from the current middle school and high school.
I contacted the West Fargo School District office, since this seemed odd, and they informed me that unless the child is currently enrolled in school (then they have the option of going to either), they will be sent across town to the new schools.
I feel they are not being completely upfront with this issue, as I have searched the schools’ Web site for the boundaries map, and it is not there. The only place I have seen it published was in the May 25 issue of The Forum. The school’s Web site has a link titled “Where will my child go to school,” however, it only addresses the children who are currently enrolled. It does not state that those who are not enrolled at this time will be required to attend the new schools.
So, as I stated, I would be for the new schools, however, not with the proposed map as it is at the present time. Please see the map for yourself at www.inforum.
com, follow the “News” link to “K12 education” and find the article titled “Is West Fargo ready for a second high school?” from May 25 and then follow the graphic link titled “West Fargo district boundaries.” Then decide for yourself, and let your voice be heard Tuesday.
