We mourn kind and gentle doctorOn Sunday (May 31), one of the most kind and gentle and ethical men you could know was murdered in the name of “life.” Dr. George Tiller provided abortion services to women who had nowhere else to turn. He and his staff provided care with love, and the walls of his clinic were covered with cards and letters of gratitude. We mourn the loss for his family and friends – and the loss for women.
Tiller understood that abortion is not about science and not about religion; it is about the heart of a woman. Tiller himself said it best:
“Abortion is not a cerebral or a reproductive issue.
“Abortion is a matter of the heart.
“For until one understands the heart of a woman, nothing else about abortion makes any sense at all.”
Tiller, his words and his work inspired many of us and his reproductive ministry to women touched the hearts of millions.
