Bank of the West cuts 12 jobs in FargoBank of the West has cut 12 positions in Fargo, a corporate spokesman said Thursday.
The 12 worked in back-office positions in several different areas and product lines, said Bob Wolff, who is based in Los Angeles.
The cuts represent 3 percent of the 395 people the company had employed in Fargo, he said.
Some of the cuts were made Wednesday and some came earlier, Wolff said.
The cuts in Fargo are part of a companywide reduction of less than
4 percent of the company’s 10,500-person workforce, he said.
Company officials in Fargo referred questions to corporate headquarters.
San Francisco-based Bank of the West announced earlier this month that it lost $85 million in the first quarter of 2009 due to the weak economy and that it would eliminate 300 to 400 positions companywide.
Bank of the West has $66 billion in assets and operates more than 700 branch locations and commercial banking offices in 19 Western and Midwestern states, including North Dakota and Minnesota.
What had been Fargo-based Community First National Bank was acquired by Bank of the West in 2004.
