Cass Lake man dead in Hubbard County rolloverPARK RAPIDS, Minn. – A 38-year-old Cass Lake man is dead after a vehicle rollover in Hubbard County.
According to a Hubbard County Sheriff’s Department news release:
Emergency crews responded to a crash at 2:48 p.m. Wednesday on County Road 9, about 6½ miles east of State Highway 71.
Responders found that a 1995 Chevy Astro van was traveling westbound on County Road 9 when the driver encountered a corner while driving at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle went off the curve and into the ditch before colliding with an approach, causing the van to be airborne before landing on its roof.
One occupant, Bruce Anoka, was pinned beneath the van and pronounced dead at the accident scene.
A second occupant,
45-year-old Sally Yanez of Minneapolis, suffered multiple injuries and was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale.
The remaining occupants, 26-year-old Kenneth Yanez of Bemidji and
25-year-old Joanna Bearheart of 25 of McGregor were transported to North Country Hospital in Bemidji with multiple injuries.
The Sheriff’s Department didn’t provide additional details, including who was driving the van.
The Sheriff’s Department, the Minnesota State Patrol, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating the crash.
