Great skills in opera productionBRAVO! to the F-M Opera Company.
Too bad Hillary Rodham Clinton didn’t major in music while in college. Had she acquired the kinds of nimble, multi-task skills that were so amply displayed last weekend in the performance of “Carmen,” by now she likely would have had the Israelis and the Palestinians co-producing “Amahl and the Night Visitors.” And the Taliban, the Pakistani military and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates could be co-hosting a huge Swat Valley picnic (with beer provided by Ahmadinajad) – all within her first 100 days of office.
Metaphorically, a bit of a stretch, but that’s an approximation of the skill level needed to do what the company did last weekend. What an immense undertaking. And how privileged we are in this community to be able to enjoy not only opera but symphonic and jazz music as well, all with the same high level of artistry.
