West Fargo students may still get to visit France for school trip

WEST FARGO – West Fargo French students who had been planning a trip to France – then found out the money they had been saving for the trip was lost in a bankruptcy filing – may be getting their trip anyway.

West Fargo Schools Superintendent Dana Diesel Wallace told WDAY AM radio she met with the students last night and believes there is some hope.

Wallace said because of the generosity of some people in the community there will be a plan together by Wednesday to make the trip happen.

And she said if people want to help out to make the trip happen they should call her.

For the past several years, a group of 21 students has been saving money for a two-week tour of France that was to start next month.

Then school officials found out the Massachusetts-based travel company that booked the trip filed for bankruptcy, and West Fargo appears to be out about $100,000.

Diesel-Wallace said the district’s lawyer has looked into the case and says its unlikely students will be able to recover any of their money.
