Governor's guide for opener confident he'll get Pawlenty a fishWHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. - Gov. Tim Pawlenty's guide says he's confident he'll help Pawlenty land a fish during this weekend's Governor's Fishing Opener.
Dennis Merry of Hugo will take Pawlenty and his wife, Mary Pawlenty, out on White Bear Lake at 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
Merry says the early start should help Pawlenty land a walleye on the ``really clear' lake. He says White Bear Lake is known as a ``night-bite lake.'
Merry, 33, says he fishes White Bear Lake four to five times a week, both in summer and winter.
Pawlenty has a string of catching at least one fish at each Governor's Fishing Opener.
It's the first time in the 61-year history of the Governor's Fishing Opener that the event has been held on a metro lake.
