Man, 68, killed Tuesday after farm accidentCASSELTON, N.D. – A 68-year-old man died early Tuesday evening after a piece of farm machinery struck him in the head about three miles west of here.
Authorities were dispatched to a rural Casselton farm at 5:08 p.m. after receiving a report of a man lying on the ground unresponsive, according to a news release.
Peter L. Kieffer was believed to be working on a piece of farm machinery when a portion of it came loose and struck him in the head, causing serious injuries, the release said.
He was bleeding from the head and not breathing when emergency personnel were contacted, according to police dispatch logs.
Casselton Ambulance transported him to Innovis Hospital where he was pronounced dead, the release said.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. Foul play is not suspected, the release said.
