Interior secretary announces $500M for tribesBISMARCK, N.D. – Interior Secretary Ken Salazar says $500 million in federal stimulus money will go to American Indian tribes across the U.S. for schools, housing, infrastructure improvements and job programs on reservations.
Salazar made the announcement Saturday at the United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck.
Salazar plans several stops in North Dakota, including an energy center on the Fort Berthold reservation and the Great Plains Synfuels plant to look at its carbon capture project. He also plans to visit North Dakota communities hit by flooding.
