RedHawks to give away tickets to flood fightersThe Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks are hosting a “Cheers to the Volunteers” celebration on May 17 when the team plays the Gary (Ind.) SouthShore RailCats at 1 p.m. at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo.
The RedHawks will give away 4,082 tickets to that day’s game to anyone who helped battle this spring’s flood.
The number 4,082 corresponds to the Red River’s record crest of 40.82 feet.
Tickets will be available starting today at the RedHawks ticket office in the lower level of Newman Outdoor Field.
The RedHawks will continue to give away tickets until they are gone.
The ticket office will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today (regular Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.). Additional ticket office hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The event is sponsored by Hornbacher’s, MeritCare, Nodak Mutual Insurance, 702 Communications, State Bank and Trust, The Forum, WDAY TV, WDAY AM 970 and CI Sport.
In addition to free tickets, the first 5,000 flood fighters at the game will receive a T-shirt commemorating the day and the flood battle, and Carmen the Cactus will play a free post-game concert.
