Puerling sets HR record as UND sweeps Dragons

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Nicole Puerling became the University of North Dakota’s career home run leader Monday. Puerling cracked a home run in the second game to help UND sweep a doubleheader against Minnesota State Moorhead by scores of 8-1 and 7-1 in nonconference women’s softball.

Puerling has 24 career home runs. The record breaker was a two-run blast. UND improved to 9-27.

Center fielder Mandy Adolph paced MSUM (4-22) going a combined 3-for-5 in the two games, driving in one run. First baseman Casey Preston went 3-for-6 and also knocked in a run.
