Three-time contender Lissa Meyer wins Fargo Star

The third time definitely proved to be the charm for 31-year-old Lissa Meyer who won top honors tonight at the Fargo Star talent contest at The Venue in Fargo.

Meyer had previously been selected as a finalist two times for the singing competition, but could never quite make it to the top. That all changed last night when Meyer won over judges and audience members alike with a powerful, technically excellent rendition of Martina McBride's soulful hit "How Far."

Meyer won two plane tickets and a hotel for anywhere in the U.S., courtesy of Travel Leaders.

First runner-up was 21-year-old Emily Holt, who sang Faith Hill's "Stronger." She won a photo package from Milestones Photography in Fargo.

About 800 people showed up to watch the 10 contestants, who sang everything from old George Michael hits to a song written especially because of the flooding Red Rver. Former "American Idol" finalist Sanjaya Malakar also made an appearance, signed autographs and performed a song.
