West Fargo: Sheyenne Diversion working as plannedWEST FARGO -- While Fargo and Moorhead are struggling with the Red River, West Fargo reassured its citizens on Saturday that its Sheyenne Diversion project is working as designed.
The city is addressing ice jam issues at several bridges along the river, but so far has them under control, said Mayor Rich Mattern.
“In the 15 years of the Diversion, this is some of the toughest ice conditions we’ve seen,” said Kevin Bucholz, city engineer for West Fargo.
Bucholz said all of the jams have been cleared, but backhoes will remain to address any further issues. Temperatures are expected to remain below average for several days.
“When people start seeing backhoes out there with the ice, the calls started pouring in,” Mattern said.
