Two snowmobilers hurt in separate accidents

Two people were injured in snowmobile accidents Saturday afternoon, according to reports from the Becker County Sheriff’s Department.

Derek Hanson, 32, of Hawley was injured about 2:20 p.m. near the Lake Park Cenex store when his 2002 Arctic Cat ZR 800 tipped on its side.

He suffered a fractured leg in the accident. He was snowmobiling with two others at the time. St. Mary’s EMS and several deputies were among those who responded.

At 4:11 p.m. the same day a 15-year-old Lake Park, Minn., boy suffered minor injuries while snowmobiling when he hit two bumps while crossing an open field and was thrown off the snowmobile.
