Driver hurt when truck hits buggy near WingerThe driver of a horse-drawn buggy was critically injured when a pickup rear-ended it Saturday near Winger, Minn., the State Patrol reported.
Both vehicles were northbound on Highway 59 when the accident occurred where it crosses with County Road 205 about 10:12 a.m., the patrol reported.
Noah J. Yoder, 29, of Winger suffered a severe head injury in the crash, the patrol said. He was initially taken to First Care in Fosston, Minn.
The report said two children in the buggy, Josie Yoder, 5, and Peter Yoder, 3, both of Winger, were also treated for minor injuries at First Care. However, no further description of their injuries was given.
The driver of the pickup, Lynn Aasen, 72, of Winger, had no apparent injuries, the report said.
According to the report, Aasen was driving a 2003 GMC Sierra and following another pickup when he was distracted by snowmobiles in a ditch and the collision occurred.
The Polk County sheriff’s office was listed as an assisting agency in the crash.
