Pawlenty calls Senate DFL's budget plan 'troubling'ST. PAUL (AP) — Gov. Tim Pawlenty says a Senate DFL plan to raise taxes on the wealthy is "very troubling."
The Republican governor says raising as much as $2 billion in taxes on the highest earners would drive businesses and investment out of the state. He says their taxes would have to go up dramatically to raise that much revenue.
Pawlenty spoke on his weekly radio show on WCCO-AM.
The Democrats' proposal relies on $2 billion in new revenue. They have yet to outline specifics but said the bulk would come from higher taxes on those with the highest incomes.
