ND Catholic bishops propose changes to personhood billBISMARCK — North Dakota’s Roman Catholic bishops today proposed wholesale changes to the controversial personhood bill, House Bill 1572.
If adopted, the bill would no longer be an invitation to a lawsuit, but a statement of legislative intent, they said.
Bishop Paul Zipfel of the Bismarck Diocese and Bishop Samuel J. Aquila announced the plan at a news conference this afternoon.
The bill has a hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee at 9 a.m. Monday. It passed the House earlier.
