Former coach relishes NDSU's NCAA berth

FARGO -- It was five years ago when former head coach Tim Miles brought Lucas Moormann, Ben Woodside, Brett Winkelman and Mike Nelson to North Dakota State. On Tuesday night, at a little before 9 p.m., CST, he was jumping around much like the Bison players were at the Sioux Falls Arena.

Only Miles was in Las Vegas.

“I was acting like a crazy man,” he said.

Now in his second year as the head coach at Colorado State, Miles is preparing his team for Wednesday's Mountain West Conference tournament game against Air Force Academy in Las Vegas. But he took time out to watch his old team in The Summit League championship game in Sioux Falls, S.D.

NDSU’s 66-64 win sends it to the NCAA Tournament, a goal that started five years ago when Miles recruited the four seniors.
