Park Rapids to host film festival in April

PARK RAPIDS, Minn. – The Red Bridge Film Festival will be held April 17-20 at the Park Theatre here.

The festival will feature Park Rapids High School graduate Rachel Morgan, who is currently completing final editing of her full-length feature movie, “Happy Birthday Rita,” which was filmed on location in New York City.

That film will be shown during the festival as a work in progress, followed by a discussion on independent movie making.

Morgan graduated from the Minnesota College of Art and Design in 2006. Last year’s festival featured two of her short films, “Winter Lilacs” and “The Devotions of Steve Alker.”

The remaining lineup of movies for the festival includes:

Short films by former Park Rapids student Grant Ertl, and Sam Ekren of Nevis, Minn., a student at Perpich Center for Arts Education, Golden Valley, Minn., will also be featured at the festival.

The festival is made possible, in part, by a grant from the Region 2 Arts Council through funding from the Minnesota State Legislature.
