Police investigate whether Fargo man died before or after crashing into a snowbank

The death of a Fargo man found unresponsive in a vehicle is under investigation by police.

Police are investigating whether Scott Allen Johnson, 45, died prior to a vehicle crash or as a result of it.

Johnson’s vehicle hit a snow bank near the intersection of Fiechtner Drive and Nodak Drive South just before 2 a.m. today.

Sgt. Jeff Skuza said it didn’t appear the accident could have caused fatal injuries. He said there were no obvious signs of foul play, and that an au-topsy is scheduled for Monday.

According to a news release, Fargo Police officers were dispatched to the possible motor vehicle crash at 1:48 a.m.

Witnesses told dispatch the driver was unresponsive and trapped inside. By the time police arrived, witnesses had removed Johnson and officers attempted CPR, but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
