ND state hockey tournament roundup: Bismarck reaches final

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Tyler Richter scored twice to help the Demons reach the finals for the first time since first-year Bismarck coach Mike Peluso was a player in 1992.

Central took a 1-0 advantage on a Brenden Gust power-play goal at 4:22 of the first period.

Bismarck then reeled off four unanswered to capture the 4-1 win Friday.

Richter’s goals came in the first and third periods.

Demons sophomore goaltender Lawrence Dvorak finished with 18 saves. Central’s Seth Lang stopped 31 shots.

The Spoilers scored four unanswered goals en route to the win. Grafton-Park River will play Minot at 10:30 a.m. today at Purpur Arena.

Alex Gaustad and Cody Boyle each had a goal and assist to help Grafton-Park River into the fifth-place game.

Robby Keehn scored midway through the first period to give Williston a 1-0 lead.

Brett Fiddler’s power-play goal at 5:35 in overtime lifted the Magicians into the consolation championship game.

Minot took a 2-0 first-period lead on goals by Sam Ebert and Cody Pardon. Century tied it at 3-3 on a Brandon Megal goal at 5:55 of the third period.
