Jonas Brothers' concert movie one of new films opening this week in F-MTickets are on sale now for the "Jonas Brothers 3D Concert," a film of the red-hot pop-rock band's 2008 "Burning Up" concert tour. The film, which also includes documentary footage on the lives of the three brothers, opens Friday at the Century 10 in Fargo. Also opening this week:
"Waltz With Bashir," (R) opens Friday at the Fargo Theatre. This Oscar nominee for best foreign language film consists of a pioneering combination of animation and documentary filmmaking. Director Ari Folman explores Israeli veterans' memories of war and their views of the world today.
"A Powerful Noise," (unrated) shows at 7 p.m. Thursday only at the Century 10. A documentary that proposes the solution to global poverty and injustice lies in the ability of women to have a voice in their societies. A live feed of the documentary will be followed by a simulcast town hall discussion featuring experts and celebrity activists.
"Not Easily Broken," (PG-13) opens Friday at the Safari 7 Discount Cinema in Moorhead. Based on the novel by Christian writer T.D. Jakes (who also co-wrote the screenplay), this contemporary melodrama focuses on a couple (Morris Chestnut and Taraji P. Henson) whose faith is tested after the wife is injured in a car accident and the husband finds himself attracted to another woman.
"Outlander," (R) opens Friday at West Acres 14 in Fargo. Billed as a "sci-mythic" version of "Beowulf," this action/adventure film is about a man from another galaxy who crash-lands on Earth during the Viking age, and brings with him an alien predator.
"Streetfighter: The Legend of Chun-Li," (PG-13) opens friday at Century 10. Based on the video game, this action/adventure film is about a group of street fighters who battle a ruthless crime boss in Bangkok.
