Forum seeks Fargo Barbie to celebrate iconic doll’s 50th anniversaryBarbie – that American icon of style, beauty and all things pink – turns 50 on March 9.
To celebrate, we’d like to invite Forum readers to create a Fargo Barbie for the occasion. Would she manage to look girlishly chic while sporting a bomber hat and furry mukluks? Or would she be a mover-and-shaker, texting furiously with business partner Ken as she drives her pink Prius to the F-M Symphony Ball?
We’d love to see your creations. If you’d like to participate:
• Send either a real Barbie, dressed and coiffed as you envision her to be, or include a designer-style, full-color sketch of Barbie with a Fargo twist.
• Include a short designer’s statement (five sentences max) explaining why you dressed Barbie as you did and how this look exemplifies the Fargo theme.
• Include your name, mailing address and contact info (daytime phone number and, if available, e-mail).
• Drop off your doll or sketch at The Forum’s main office at 101 N. 5th St., between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Or mail it to us at The Forum, Fargo Barbie Showcase, c/o Tammy Swift, 101 N. 5th St., Fargo, ND 58103. Deadline for entries is noon Monday.
The top dolls and sketches will appear in an upcoming edition of The Forum. Please indicate if you would like your doll or sketch returned. Questions on the Fargo Barbie Showcase can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
