Charges filed after towing accidentCharges have been filed against two people for a car accident that left a Concordia College student injured Feb. 4.
Zachary Staples, 21, and Stacie Fossum, 21, both Moorhead, face charges of misdemeanor reckless driving and operating unsafe equipment.
Marilena Eckes, a 20-year-old sophomore from Maple Grove, Minn., was struck and pinned beneath a sport utility vehicle being towed by a pickup at 12th Avenue South and Fifth Street in Moorhead.
A pickup had been towing an SUV northbound on Fifth Street South using a yellow tow strap. The SUV had no working lights.
Staples, who was driving the pickup, stopped at the intersection. Eckes started crossing the street, not realizing the SUV was being towed behind the pickup.
After Fossum applied the SUV brakes, Eckes was pinned under the vehicle.
