Moorhead school officials to discuss at meeting tonight more details about proposed $4.9 million in budget cutsMOORHEAD - The Moorhead School District’s administration will share a more detailed preliminary outline of planned budget cuts worth $4.9 million at a school board meeting tonight.
School officials will also discuss the expected impact of various cost-cutting measures, such as a marked increase in class sizes.
The meeting starts at 7 at the Probstfield Center, at 2410 14th St. S. in Moorhead.
The administration is looking at eliminating 64 positions, 42 of them licensed employees, such as teachers and counselors. Other proposed moves include a freeze of special education expenditures, fewer extracurricular activities and higher fees for the remaining ones.
Officials are also project-ing cuts in textbooks and supplies, and a $500,000 reduction in energy con-sumption costs.
