Anti-voter bills should be killedI am appalled at the introduction of HB 1576 and HB 1516 by these Fargo legislators: Reps. Al Carlson, Randy Boehning, Kim Koppelman, and Blair Thoreson and Sens. David Hogue, Minot, Dwight Cook, Mandan, and Dick Dever, Bismarck.
The first bill would shorten the 15-day window for early voting to just seven days and not allow early voting in urban areas. The second bill would require voters who sign affidavits on their eligibility to vote to once again prove their eligibility within three days or their votes will not be counted. Right now that is two weeks in Cass County.
If these bills become law, they will make voting more inaccessible for a number of people. We’re hearing about all the absentee ballots in Minnesota that have not been counted because of some bureaucratic laws. Do we want to become another one of these states that hampers the citizen’s right to vote because of law barricades?
Please contact these legislators and your representatives and senators to vote against these bills when they come to floor of the full House and Senate. If any of the above legislators are from your district comunicate with them about these bills.
