Horse slaughter proposal is wrongHorses have names. Slaughtering horses is murder. Horses deserve better. Americans don’t eat horses. America shouldn’t sell horse meat.
Spending taxpayer money to pave the way for a privately owned horse slaughterhouse is wrong. The $100,000 would be better spent creating a horse sanctuary for unwanted horses.
Owning a horse is a lot of responsibility. That responsibility should include taking care of the horse when it’s no longer useable. Horses serve their owners. They are faithful and obedient. They should not be turned into meat after a lifetime of obeying commands.
People who cannot provide for a horse’s retirement should not own a horse. If there are too many unwanted horses and people refuse to care for them properly, the state should establish a horse sanctuary.
