NDSU staff pull out more chairs for larger-than-expected crowd watching inauguration

FARGO – The excitement during President Barack Obama’s inauguration was palpable at North Dakota State University’s Century Ballroom today.

NDSU staff members ended up setting up more chairs for people who came too late to find a seat. The University opened its doors for the community to gather to watch Obama take his oath and become the 44th president of the United States.

Students, faculty and staff mingled and ate red, white and blue cupcakes as they waited for the ceremony to begin.

NDSU senior Melissa Delisle said she was interested in watching as much of the inauguration as she could.

“This is a historic occasion, and I wanted to be here to tell my grandkids about it,” she said.
