Idiotic statements from Halstad City CouncilPenny Parden, Halstad, Minn.’s ex-animal control officer, shouldn’t have to apologize to City Council members for going public with her concerns on how Halstad handles stray dogs. I apologize to Parden for having to listen to City Council members when they make idiotic statements such as “I’d feel different, too, if other towns were doing something, nobody’s doing nothing” and “if we don’t pick up a dog, we don’t have any responsibility with that dog.” (Now there’s some bad publicity.)
While some Halstad council members and residents would wish that Parden let sleeping dogs lie, I thank her for taking up the fight, offering a sensible and realistic solution and for going public. As a Fargo resident, I am limited in how I can help Parden, but I can send her a note to let her know I applaud what she’s doing. I urge others to do so, too.
Thanks to The Forum for helping bring Parden’s admirable fight to light.
