Fargo firefighters receive SAFER grantThe Fargo Fire Department has been awarded a $1.3 million Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant.
“We are pretty excited to receive this grant,” said Assistant Fire Chief Steve Balstad. “We will be hiring additional firefighters to ensure the department has enough staff to adequately respond to fire emergencies.”
These grants bring the total awarded to local fire departments and emergency medical services organizations in North Dakota to more than $24 million since 2001.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program awards aim to enhance response capabilities and to more effectively protect the health and safety of the public with respect to fire and other hazards.
The grants enable local fire departments and emergency medical services organizations to purchase or receive training, conduct first responder health and safety programs, and buy equipment and response vehicles.
