Environment factor in a dog's behaviorIn response to Tammy Clemenson-Culver’s Jan. 3 letter regarding pit bulls:
She makes numerous references to pit bull owners. That is exactly where the problem originates. The owners are responsible for their dogs’ behavior. Any dog can be raised carelessly and taught to be aggressive. It is strictly environmental.
I once was prejudiced about this breed. This was due to negative publicity. Just like a lot of issues, the positives are seldom heard or reported.
Ironically, one rarely hears about the pit bulls that are wonderful service dogs, faithful companions or visitors to nursing homes.
There are always two sides to every story.
