Snow-removal project slated for MondayThe Metro Area Mayors Committee for People With Disabilities is organizing a volunteer snow-removal project starting at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Freedom Resource Center, 2701 9th Ave. S., Fargo.
The project will remove snow from sidewalks, bus stops, intersections and doorways throughout the metro area so people with disabilities can get around.
The event is being held in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the National Day of Service.
Volunteers are needed to help with the snow shoveling, picking up other volunteers and driving volunteers to designated shovel spots.
Interested volunteers are invited to gather Monday at the Freedom Resource Center.
To volunteer or for more information, contact Laura via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or (701) 866-5572.
A video describing the project has been posted to YouTube. The video can be seen at http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=gK00qCBSjUk.
The committee entered the video in a YouTube contest in which participants must create a video describing what they plan to do on MLK Day. The winning video will be posted to www.usaservice.org, and the winner will receive a phone call from soon-to-be first lady Michelle Obama.
