Man airlifted to Fargo hospital after head-on collisionTHIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. - A head-on collision late Wednesday afternoon north of Thief River Falls sent both drivers to the hospital.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Michel Gilbertson, 49, was driving a 1997 Ford Crown Victoria southbound on state Highway 32, north of Thief River Falls, about 5:10 p.m. Wednesday when he crossed the median line and crashed head-on into a 1997 Ford Explorer driven northbound by Stephanie Walseth, 32.
Both drivers are from Thief River Falls and were taken to the Northwest Medical Center there.
Walseth was in stable condition there Wednesday night, a nursing supervisor said.
But Gilbertson was more seriously injured and transferred to Meritcare in Fargo. He was in stable and satisfactory condition late Wednesday night in Meritcare, a nursing supervisor said.
Each driver was alone in their vehicle. The investigation into the collision isn’t complete, the patrol said.
