Corn dryer damaged in Dilworth elevator fire
The blaze, which was extinguished by the Glyndon (Minn.) Fire Department, was confined to the dryer, which stands apart from grain storage bins at the elevator, said Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist.
The fire was reported about 9:40 a.m. and fire units had cleared the scene by early afternoon.
No one was injured.
The elevator is at the intersection of Minnesota Highways 10 and 336.
Jeff Triebold, the elevator’s general manager, said about 1,000 bushels of corn were likely lost and the dryer is probably totaled.
He said it was not known when the corn dryer, the only one serving the elevator, will be fixed or replaced.
Triebold said it’s also unknown what sparked the fire.
