Plow, beet truck collision halts trainsBRECKENRIDGE, Minn. – A collision between a snowplow and a sugar beet truck Friday morning temporarily stopped train traffic south of here.
The State Patrol and the Wilkin County Sheriff’s Department responded to the crash that occurred around 5:15 a.m. about three miles south of Breckenridge.
No injuries have been reported.
Thomas Miller, 44, of Breckenridge was driving a Wilkin County snowplow south on Highway 75 and was turning onto County Road 158, the State Patrol said.
Paul Ellingson, 50, of Campbell, was driving the sugar beet truck and sideswiped the snowplow as he was passing the vehicle, the Patrol said. Roads were icy at the time.
The crash occurred near a train crossing. BNSF Railway was notified to hold train traffic.
