Williston students pushing anti-smoking billBISMARCK, N.D. — Williston students who pushed to make the chokecherry North Dakota's official fruit will be coming back to the Legislature with a proposal to ban smoking in vehicles with children.
Twenty seventh-graders will be lobbying for a bill to make it illegal for a driver to smoke if any passenger is 16 years old or younger.
Williston State Sen. Stan Lyson (LEE'-son) is sponsoring the bill after listening to students' research. But he told them it likely will be a tougher sell than the chokecherry bill last session.
