Weekend Watch: Sawyer Brown
Given the more conservative, traditional-minded fan base of country music, it’s not too surprising its artists often seem to have a bit more staying power than their counterparts in the what’s-hot-today pop-rock genre. Take Sawyer Brown, for example. These guys, whose name is taken from a street in Nashville, have been at it for better than a quarter of a century. Since winning their division on the television talent show “Star Search,” they’ve cranked out more than 20 albums, including their 2008 Christmas disc “Rejoice.” And, as if to prove they ain’t slowin’ down, they’ll be playing, not one, but two shows Friday evening at Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, Minn. Shows are at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Call (800) 313-7469 for more info.
