United Tribes college to march in paradeUnited Tribes Technical College in Bismarck has been invited to participate in the Inaugural Parade on Jan. 20 in Washington.
Members of the college will join representatives from across the country and the Armed Forces in the parade down Pennsylvania Avenue following President-elect Barack Obama’s swearing-in ceremony.
Organizations that wanted to participate in the parade submitted applications to the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee, which then assisted the Presidential Inaugural Committee in reviewing all of the groups’ applications. More than 1,300 organizations applied to participate in the parade.
The contingent from United Tribes will include employees and students who have served in the Armed Forces as well as singers and dancers using traditional Indian hoop drums.
All participants in the parade are responsible for paying for their own lodging and transportation to and from Washington. For more information about supporting the college and its participation in the parade, contact Wes Longfeather at (701) 255-3285, ext. 1218, or visit www.uttc.edu.
