Dave Schultz shoots 65, but misses PGA Tour

Forum staff report

LA QUINTA, Calif. – Fargo’s Dave Schultz closed with a strong round, but fell far short of qualifying for the PGA Tour.

Schultz shot a 7-under-par 65 Monday on the final day of the Tour’s six-round qualifying tournament at PGA West, finishing in a tie for 145th.

The top 25 and ties qualified for the 2009 PGA Tour.

Schultz was 1 under par for the tournament after shooting rounds of 73-79-69-71-74-65–431.

PGA Tour veteran Harrison Frazar won the tournament, posting a score of 32 under par. A score of 19 under par was good enough to make the top 25.
