Vikings to make change at QB, Frerotte to start SundayEDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) ? The Minnesota Vikings are making a change at quarterback.
Coach Brad Childress says Gus Frerotte will start on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.
Tarvaris Jackson started the first two games, both losses. Childress says he had to go with the player that would give the team the best chance to win.
Jackson completed just 51 percent of his passes in his first two starts, prompting the coach to turn to a 37-year-old journeyman Frerotte.
Frerotte was signed in the off-season to be Jackson's backup, but now finds himself trying to turn around a team that had high expectations to start the season.
Childress says that barring injury, Frerotte will be the quarterback for the rest of the season.
Childress says he hasn't given up on the 25-year-old Jackson as an option for the team's longterm future.
